My final AMCOMS WEEK experience

Initially, I planned to make an effort to attend, but at the end of the first day, I knew I was definitely coming back EFFORTLESSLY! Here's a breakdown of the AMCOMS week from my POV.
The AMCOMS WEEK, 2023, kick-started on Monday, the 15th of May, 2023, with a ‘quiz competition’ and afterwards, football matches between 100 level and 300 level female and male students of the department.
Before the official start of the quiz competition, we had a few activities like music and dance from some members of the crowd to liven up the hall. A lot of challenging questions about the department, current affairs, celebrity gist, e.t.c, were asked during the quiz, but the contestants gave impressive answers.
At the end of the quiz competition, the 300 level class emerged winners with 200 and 100 levels coming 2nd and 3rd respectively. Afterwards, some aspirants of the department and FASA were given the stage to address the public for 5 minutes each and recharge pins for various networks were also won by some members of the public, sponsored by the aspirants.
The football match started a few minutes after the quiz. The 300 level and 100 level girls did not come to play. We saw lots of ‘outstanding’ performances from a good number of players; there were missed kicks and so many accidental body contacts, and at the end, the 300 level female players, according to an observer, ‘accidentally’ emerged winners 😅.
Who cares though, since they qualified for finals.

Day 2: fun games/jean day/football match
Tuesday started quite slow for me, and I almost didn't attend but in the long run, that was the day I had the most fun.
Dressed in blue jean trousers, denim jacket and a canvas, I got to the venue to find other eager students of the department, dressed in jeans too. The games started with egg race, with contestants from all (4) four levels, and it was really fun and competitive. Contestants got to eat their boiled eggs regardless of their victory or loss.
After awhile of egg-racing, we switched to ‘primary school’ games where we had jankara marketing, fire on the mountain, bend down kill am- bend down pepper, e.t.c,. This was a delight to so many of us as we found our inner child again and had real fun.
We moved to the continuation of the football match between 400 level and 200 level girls where 400 level girls emerged winners of course 🙃. 200 level girls showed great competitiveness because the 1st and only goal scored by the 400 level class came after so many missed goal attempts. We then moved to the larger field for the most interesting part of the football match; the match between the 400 level and 200 level male players.
A few minutes before the start of the game, it began to rain and most of the crowd left, including myself. Results were announced on the AMCOMS group chat, and from every indication, 200 level guys had their victory all planned out from the beginning cos how in God's name do you explain 6-3?
Day 3: talent show/indoor games 🙃🙃
I enjoyed Wednesday sooo much, and if I think about it very much, maybe I enjoyed it more than Tuesday.
A lot of challenges wanted to challenge my attendance but I successfully attended. ‘Talent show’ was like a local concert for all the people who attended, if I'm allowed to be their mouthpiece. Even with the challenges from the initial venue being unavailable, we had so much fun hosting it around the Naraguta field.
Various talented artists came out to perform and we had other unofficial artists too. We even crowned AMCOMS couple on this day from a very thrilling performance by an unofficial stage vixen. It was so sweet to watch her display vixen prowess when the artist picked her out from the crowd, she turned to the music like she'd been doing it all her life.
We also had a reggae performance by 400 level Timothy Samuel, people jumped and raised their hands and jumped to the rhythm and it was so beautiful to experience.

Day 4: Old school day/throwback Thursday
This was my 3rd favourite day 😅.
I thought of the best way to dress and finally came up with something, I'll show you a picture if you're patient enough. It was all laughs and fun as people came out in their own idea of old school attires. There was this particular 100 level girl that took hers to the extreme 😅 I almost lost weight from laughing.
We also had Hilary from 300 level dressed hilariously and conducting herself as our aunty. The fact that she got an old car to match did it 😂.
After awhile of games like flip the bottle, if you are born in January come out and dance, concentration-concentration, e.t.c, we went into full music and dance. We danced all the way to Faculty of Arts from PG hostel and it was fun all the way. We got there and continued dancing and had games too.
Someone said I looked like an old school detective

Could this be Wednesday? 🤔

Day 5: Football finals
I couldn't attend but I got a briefing from the Director of Sports.
For the female section, 300 level girls won 400 level girls 1-0 via penalty and 300 level boys won 100 level boys 2-0. They'll be receiving the H.O.D's cup during the AMCOMS dinner sometime in July.

Day 6: hike/picnic
Why did you miss this hike?
A host of departments hiked on this day.
We had students from Engineering department amongst us too, in fact, some of us climbed the mountain with more Engineering students than Mass Communication students.
After we climbed back down, we went to a spot by the dam where speakers and microphones had been set up. We were entertained with music and dance competitions, and the floor was also opened for everyone to dance to mark the end of the week.
A few minutes before the picnic came to an end, the President of the department announced that the excos had food for us but we didn't see anything. We got water and chewing gums though, and luckily for us, some small chops vendors were also present and most people bought snacks.

Personality profile: This and that about this writer.

New blog post: teeny facts ‘or not’ about this writer. Heyyy, long time no see. How are you holding up? I have to say the cold in this place is turning me to a jelly in a jar. Okay, hollup, seems like I’m deviating. Lol, guess that’s one fact or not about me…I love to talk. Let’s move to the basics. Maybe you’re wondering why I had to do this. I know, it’s not like I’m one celebrity or something but I’m your favourite writer (yeah, I heard you say so). Who knows, I may be one in two years from now or less cos why do I have you? Push me push me so I can have lots of money for giveaways 🙃 My name is Naze Salome Sewuese. Other names are Kristin, and of course, baby 😅. I’m a female woman (have to be real specific there). I come from a family of seven. My dad is an auditor and my mum is a teacher and a caterer and they both run a poultry house. I’m the second out of five girls. There’s Tee, myself, Seember, Nguamo and Mimi. I have my primary and secondary certificates fro...

Dare to dream- you are more than the figure you see in the mirror.

In one episode of Young Sheldon, Sheldon asked the librarian what her religion was because he was learning about different religions in order to find the one he liked better. She said her religion teaches that when people die they go their own planets but women have to go to their husband's planet, except her because she's single.    In all 23 years of my life, I have battled with people's different beliefs in relation to love, respect and ambitions. It's been a tough and conflicting battle on what to belief as right or not. I have made my own assumptions and research based on what I've been taught intentionally and I believe at this point, I have the right standing.     The argument about God's intention when he took a rib out of man to create woman is one that can put one's brain in a turmoil. Did God mean for a woman to only be a helpmate and not have her own identity? Did he instruct Adam to be fruitful, multiply and subdue the earth by himself?   ...

MY CAMP SERIES: EPISODE 2 (Wise kind man)

Does it really pay to be patient? Or do we just have to be smart enough to know when to abide by the saying?     As the popular saying goes, “the patient dog eats the fattest bone“. Although nowadays when someone quotes it, another person replies, “patient dog don get ulcer” and everyone begins to laugh. Fetching water this afternoon during our free time before lunch, we had a long line of buckets with people waiting to get water to take their baths, wash their clothes, e.t.c,. Sitting with my first camp friend, we discussed a lot of things in a bid to pass time before our turn. Everybody's been so kind to everybody here, as if we're all eager to make new friends. Anyways, this other pretty girl comes with her buckets and expresses shock as she sees the number of people already waiting. Following the chatty trend, people begin to laugh and give her unnecessary/witty advice. One gist leads to the another and she joins the conversation with I and my friend. Somehow during t...
