On the 12th of February, 2021, students of the village hostel University of Jos came out in numbers to protest, having had enough of the deaf ears paid to them by management on the issue of the lack of light in the hostels since resumption. According to them, since their return to the hostels, rounding up to almost four weeks, there had been no power supply leading to lack of water also. Many attested that since laying complains to the management, ‘nothing had been done’. It was alleged that they were asked to contribute for wires and cables to fix the light. On reaching the school environment, staff and students coming from outside were not allowed to come in as the gates were locked and students were both seated and standing outside with drums and sticks hitting and singing.
